Northern Rivers Textile Initiative
Northern Rivers Textiles Initiative is a collaboration of artists united by a belief that the climate crisis and global resource depletion can shape contemporary art. We are highly skilled natural dye specialists, valuing quality over quantity, botanical dyeing, slow making and integrity of materials and process, ready to consolidate our rich collective skillset and deep material intelligence. Fostering environmental ethics, commitment to excellence and community leadership, marks the beginning of a regenerative textile tourism strategy.
“At a time when this planet is suffering an onslaught of pollution, chemical runoff from fast fashion textile industries flows freely into our rivers and oceans.…natural dyes contribute to environmental solutions, additionally, they contribute cultural and economic value… as such, are deserving of significant support” Indrasen Vencatachellum UNESCO advisor International Festival of Plants Ecology and Colour, Antananarivo Madagascar 2017
