Learn to extract colour from nature to dye natural fabrics. Sue will share with participants which plants and kitchen waste can be used for dyeing, how to effectively mordant both protein and cellulose fibres, the technique of extraction dyeing and how to use modifiers to create a rainbow of possibilities. While the dye pots are simmering Sue will lead the participants in some slow stitching using a variety of botanical dyed fabrics and threads. At the end of the workshop participants will go home with a selection of dyed linen, cotton and wool samples and the skills to dye their own clothes.
